Overall Facebook use among the adult, internet-using population hasnâ€™t changed since last year â€“ but overall engagement is at an all-time high.
According to data from the Pew Research Internet Project, 45 percent of Facebook users say they engage with the site â€œseveral times a dayâ€.
And 70% check Facebook at least once a day.
Overall Facebook penetration has stayed the same over the last year, however, holding strong at 71%. This makes it the most popular social network by more than two-fold.
The only exception to this is with grandma:
â€œThe one notable exception is older adults: For the first time in Pew Research findings, more than half (56%) of internet users ages 65 and older use Facebook,â€ says Pew.
The big winner of the past year, at least in terms of getting people signed up and using the service, was Instagram.
â€œFor the first time, roughly half of internet-using young adults ages 18-29 (53%) use Instagram. And half 0f all Instagram users (49%) use the site daily,â€ says Pew.
Instagram saw the biggest jump in use over the past year â€“ nine percent (from 17 percent to 26 percent).
